I have started to look at clothes differently now, I have opened my eyes to more colours, shapes, materials and patterns. I went through a long period in my life where I though some of the clothing my mum would wear (like these boots) were just not cool, or too old fashioned. Well I apologise mother, you have always been very fashionable and I have finally seen the light. Clothing doesn’t get to wear you, it doesn’t choose how it looks or feels or what accessories it goes with, you decide that and the best outfits are when people have realised exactly that.
The outfit I am sharing with you today I wouldn’t have been seen dead in only a year ago, but times are changing and I am growing up. When I walked into the charity shop where I first saw this dress, I just walked straight past and then did that whole double look walk back slowly and started staring, a secret I have to share with you first is that I am weirdly obsessed with corduroy, I think it is quiet possibly the coolest fabric out there, so of course I had to try on this dress. It wasn’t really my colour or length that I would normally pick up but I jumped into the deep end during my haul in England, I wasn’t going to get anywhere if I didn’t get out of my comfort zone. At first, I really wasn’t sure but after changing the belt it came with (same material but as strings), undoing a few buttons and putting on some heeled boots I started to feel fabulous.
For me this is the perfect before spring when Stockholm only gives you small glimpses of light outfit, you can layer up underneath but still have that spring dress feeling. It is different for sure but different is amazing, I get a lot more compliments and attention if I wear something that is out of the ordinary. Allow yourself to pair the clothing you wouldn’t normally pair together, mix the types of metal jewellery to created a layered look and always make sure to never judge a book by its cover or in this case a dress by its colour.
Shopping second hand or sustainable isn’t always what you see in the magazines or on the cat walk, that’s the whole point when trying to stop fast fashion. But it is absolutely original, stylish and something that allows you to express yourself and stand out!
I can’t wait to hear what you think about this outfit! I have a quick question that I would really appreciate your help on:
